Approach
How do you turn Indonesian batik into a whole hotel?
Mercure Karawang takes one local craft — Indonesian batik — and lets it shape the whole interior. The traditional motif is reworked into something feminine and contemporary: flowing, sinuous graphics that move from dense floral pattern into soft, petal-like forms. That idea peaks in the lobby, where towering batik-print feature walls in magenta and gold rise the full double height beside a cascading cluster-light chandelier. In the guest rooms it becomes a bold illuminated headboard graphic; across the all-day dining room, ballroom, spa and pool bar it returns as screens, carved panels and richly patterned textiles. The result is a four-star city hotel with a clear sense of place — a sophisticated, elegant palette grounded in West Javanese craft, designed for Karawang's business and leisure travellers alike. Recognition: Asia Pacific Property Awards 2017–18 — Five Star Best Hotel Interior, Indonesia.
